The MDRRM Office 4P’s Program focuses on Reforestation and Seedlings Propagation/Production. Initially designed for landslide preparedness and mitigation, the program has evolved to address broader goals such as food security, biodiversity protection, conservation, and global warming mitigation. From 2016 to 2020, the program involved bamboo and tree production and planting.
In 2021, the MDRRM Officer introduced the “Plant, Plant, Plant Program” (4Ps for the environment), making it a continuous initiative of the MDRRM and MENR Offices. The program’s effectiveness is measured through stakeholder testimonials.
Concrete outcomes include bamboo planting at Luga National High School to protect slopes eroded during construction. The school-owned area has become a tourist attraction, offering a scenic view of Bangalao Lake and Namunit Hills. Timber species trees planted behind the school gymnasium provide shade during hot summer days.
A three-hectare LGU property near Tabaco Cave is now an integrated farm ecotourism site, featuring mature fruit-bearing trees that attract cave enthusiasts. Ongoing activities involve collaboration with partners in agriculture, tourism, environment, culture and the arts, Sangguniang Kabataan, and trained Eco guides.
