The Rambo C.A.R.E.S. (Community Assistance thru Reinforcement and Establishment of Shelters) program is an upgraded version of the “Bahay Mo, Patitibayin Ko” initiative previously implemented by the MSWDO under the DRRM-Prevention and Mitigation thematic area. The goal of the program is to provide construction materials to identified recipients, strengthening their houses to reduce the number of families affected or evacuated during typhoons. This helps make houses sturdier, thereby lessening vulnerabilities in the community.
Initiated in 2016 under the “Bahay Mo, Patitibayin Ko” program, funded from the 5% LDRRM Fund of the MDRRM Office, the Rambo C.A.R.E.S. program uniquely provides shelter assistance in the form of construction materials worth Php10,000.00 per beneficiary. The selection of beneficiaries is based on LGU guidelines, and the procurement process adheres to COA rules. Beneficiaries contribute through the cost of labor and other expenses related to construction. The program ensures transparency and continuously monitoring the implementation progress.
Over the past three years, the program has proven effective in terms of the number of beneficiaries. Initially, identifying qualified recipients was challenging due to the absence of available data on previous beneficiaries. The team worked to establish a beneficiary database, aiming to prevent duplication and maximize resource utilization.
